Nine years across web, backend, and infrastructure. Mostly TypeScript and Ruby on Rails. For data, I rely on PostgreSQL and GraphQL. I also manage AWS infrastructure and build mobile apps using React Native or SwiftUI.

My work falls into two categories: building version one of a product, or modernizing older systems. Modernization usually means Rails-to-Next.js migrations or splitting monoliths. I also build LLM pipelines that survive production. This includes evaluation harnesses, hallucination observability, LLM-judge testing, and autonomous CI bots.

I currently freelance. Most of my client work now is architecture and review, with the implementation delegated to coding agents. Outside of client work, I build a Japanese-first Korean reading app powered by an LLM content pipeline, and write about freelancing in Japan, the tax system, and building with AI.
